My Story

BIO
Tia McGraff is a Canadian, Americana-Folk singer-songwriter, and children’s author whose star shot into orbit after winning the Canadian Open Country Singing Contest at the age of nineteen. It wasn't long before this small-town girl from the north shore of Lake Erie, Ontario, began making TV appearances with Johnny Cash and June Carter, writing and recording with musical icons Randy Bachman (BTO) and Dan Hill, placing songs with Anne Murray’s publishing company, and singing the national anthems for the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leaf NHL team, Tampa Bay Rays, and Nashville Sounds. When Tia moved to Nashville, TN, she met and married Colorado native and melody man Tommy Parham, whose song "Rocks You Can’t Move" became a hit for Country Music legend Lee Greenwood. Tia and Tommy broke their rule of ‘never date your co-writer ' and have been touring the world, sharing their love for music and each other ever since.
With over eleven international album releases, various film/TV placements, and numerous awards (including Social Justice and Peace Songs of the Year at the 2021 and 2022 Em Power Songwriting Awards; Hamilton Music Award; ISSA; and semi-finalist in the 2026 Intl Songwriting Competition, Tia and Tommy have earned their respective place in the music industry and a global fan base. Besides hosting numerous songwriting rounds for the coveted 9 PM spot at the famous Bluebird Café, Nashville, with guest songwriters like John Ford Coley joining them, Tia and Tommy have headlined main stage festivals in the USA/Canada/UK/and Wales with notables Steve Earle, Joan Baez, Ashley McIsaac, Sylvia Tyson, Fred Penner, and Valdy. Tia’s recording of their song, All of Us (co-written with UK singer-songwriter Henry Priestman), was aired in 2010 at World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia, and viewed by the Pope and thousands in attendance. In 2026, Tia’s hometown honored her with an induction in the Norfolk Music Hall of Fame alongside Rory Dodd (of the band Meatloaf), and Canadian Folk artist Ian Bell. In 2026 Tia’s single release, Caterpillar Song was immediately added to CBC Kids’ Radio playlist as well as kiddo radio and streaming platforms around the world.
Tia and Tommy have a gift for ‘getting to the heart of the matter’ and writing relatable songs about life, love, and this crazy world we live in, and have been described as “the modern day, Johnny Cash and June Carter!”
Also, a gifted five-star author, Tia’s children’s book series, Jake the Road Dawg (about the couple’s adopted Nashville Shelter pup who travels with them on tour) has helped raise funds and awareness for their local chapter of The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, The Niagara Falls Humane Society, and numerous animal rescue non-profits. The book includes three original songs by Tia and Tommy and is the inspiration for their live children’s show, Songs’n’Tails. Jake the Road Dawg inspires readers of all ages to ‘Find the song in your heart,’ and ‘Let yourself be Crazy Beautiful!’

NO DEPRESSION
“In Your Dreams, Jake is a delightful read. The author has used adorable animals as characters to help tell the story of life’s serious issues. Every chapter contains a life lesson. These characters uniquely encounter real problems that one experiences throughout life, resolving them in a caring way.
This would be an invaluable addition to our education system for children from grade three to eight.
Spattered throughout are catching little poems to add to each chapter. Congratulations Tia, on a well written second novel.”
Shari Cann, Editor, education specialist, and trustee for the Grand Erie District School Board
